4-player playthrough

Hegemony: Lead Your Class to Victory: setup guide

Earn the most victory points after five rounds and endgame scoring. The Working Class, Middle Class, Capitalist Class and State share an economy but have different scoring incentives. Wages, prices, taxes and public services connect the four positions.

Setup 01

Choose all four roles

Set out the distinct player boards and supplies for Working Class, Middle Class, Capitalist Class and State. Each role has its own cards and economic position. This guide follows the four-player base game; reduced-player systems and expansions are not part of the recorded route.

Setup 02

Lay out the starting companies

Place the starting capitalist businesses, the Middle Class Convenience Store and Doctor’s Office, and the three starting public companies. The tutorial begins their wages at level two. Keep inactive public companies distinct from the active businesses that will produce.

Setup 03

Assign workers and starting resources

Match each worker to the skill requirements shown in the starting companies. Capitalist and public companies need a complete workforce; a Middle Class business has different staffing rules. Use each class’s own starting cash, goods and markers rather than a common identical player kit.

Setup 04

Make the policies readable

Identify the seven policy tracks before changing any markers. The first five cover the public sector, minimum wages, taxation and welfare, while the final two concern trade and immigration. Put the import and export areas where everyone can compare domestic and foreign prices.

Setup 05

Check the political and card supplies

Prepare the role decks, voting cubes, Influence, Legitimacy and scoring markers in their correct areas. The authored opening hands make the lesson reproducible; they are not a recommendation to choose a starting hand in ordinary play. Begin with a shared understanding of who pays whom.

Before your first move

The round moves through preparation, actions, production, elections and scoring. Companies need labour, workers need goods and services, and policies change the terms of those exchanges. Five main actions per player make timing valuable even when a plan is affordable in cash.
