Inis: setup guide
Qualify at an Assembly through presence in six territories, presence beside six sanctuaries, or chieftainship over six opposing clans. A Pretender token is required and Deeds can reduce missing requirements. These are different paths; conquering the largest area is not itself the winning rule.

Choose base or Seasons
The base tutorial has four players; the expansion tutorial has three. Set out twelve clans per player and separate Action, Advantage and Epic Tale cards. The count changes the Action deck, so a four-player packet must not be carried into the three-player lesson.
Setup 02
Construct the starting land
The recorded setup uses legal shuffled territories rather than the optional discovery layout. Interlock their shaped edges and check that each starting tile has at least two neighbours. Shared borders create land adjacency; touching corners do not.
Setup 03
Prepare capital and buildings
Identify the capital and the sanctuaries and citadels on the starting territories. The capital functions as a citadel during clashes. Put each revealed territory’s matching Advantage card where the future chieftain can find it.
Setup 04
Place the starting clans in order
Players place one clan at a time clockwise, twice. The resulting majorities affect chieftainship and the capital can determine the Brenn at Assembly. Inspect the shared starting position before moving into the draft rather than assuming every territory has a single owner.
Setup 05
Add only the selected expansion modules
For Seasons, inspect the season references, islands, harbours and King tile in that route’s setup. Islands have no land neighbours and sea travel uses its own rules. The fifth-player module and Nemed are not played in this three-player teaching game.
Before your first move
An Assembly establishes the Brenn, resolves the victory check and prepares the Season. Players draft green Action cards, then use cards or pass as the Season develops. Yellow Advantage cards reflect territory majorities, while red Epic Tales offer effects that can persist between Seasons.

Sources and scope
The source audit uses the 2025 English base and expansion rulebooks, with corrected component faces and documented designer clarifications. Sources were checked on 8 September 2026.
